Idea I found from rcbarry (http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=95131&page=2) about making his own powder baffle from tin. Should be able to make a couple for my bench and adapt it to my Hornady.

Anybody be willing to trace their RCBS Uniflow powder baffle for me? (or at least trace one side to the bend.)

I know I have a file home on the computer with these templates. Will look for it tonight.

Here you can find a whole set of powder baffle templates in different sizes, just pick the one that fits your powder measure:

http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=366367&highlight=baffle

Go to post #9 (You must log in first in order to open the .pdf file)

And for Star and RCBS Uniflow:

Google "template powder baffle" and you might find more. That's what I did - Google is your friend.

Ok, I found the one I was thinking of, it has templates listed by the inside diameter of the hopper, doesn't matter who's name is on the outside...... :)

Thanks for posting the template deal. I had lost my copy and the link. I need to make one for my Uniflo I got in 1975.

Thanks guys!

I have read it over and already printed a useable sheet for the ones I need for my Uniflow's and Hornady. I even have some adhesive paper to make the template. I think I have some card stock at work to make a tracing template.

I bet old gift cards would work good and won't scratch the internal plastic hopper. It would need a good wipe down with a dryer sheet, but I do that from time to time anyways.

hmmmmm....:Fire:

Or you could use a large fender washer with a 1/2 hole in the middle.

Just order a large pizza with the usual toppings, inside you will find a plastic piece that hold the top up. Take the plastic piece and put in powder measure, works great as a baffle, make sure you wash it first as powder granules will stick to the oils from the pizza.

I was thinking the same thing today at work!

Plus, I thought I read a review somewhere on the internet. Someone tested several baffles with diferent measures and found they actually didn't increase much consistency overall. I thought it was at 6mmbr or milsurp.com. I cannot find it now.

I just use a funnel placed on top of the powder hopper. Fill the funnel, and it only allows powder to build up until it meets the bottom of the funnel, keeping a steady weight on the measuring drum. Also makes it easy to empty the powder hopper-don't have fish out the baffle before pouring back into the can.

This is a copy of the baffle that I use....... hopefully.

I am trying to learn how to upload a pdf to a post.

Make your baffles out of the same thin stock the gas check people are using. BvT

I've been measuring for a couple yrs with and without a baffle (first a home made one and later an official RCBS baffle in a Uniflow) and cannot see a difference. Could be the powder or whatever but I decided not to put a baffle in my 2nd powder measure for that reason. It sounds good in theory but didn't pan out as expected. However, the hype WAS successful in extracting cash from my pocket.

Also, I used a beer can to make a baffle and cutting it for a perfect fit was a bit tedious.
