Heavy 9mm loads?

This evening just for giggles I loaded up some 190gr RD boolits in empty 9mm cases. COL was just short enough to fit in my XD magazine. When I racked the slide they all cycled flawlessly. I also learned that like loading the 45acp with heavies Win brass seemed to work best for the 9mm too. The boolits did not really seem to sit much deeper in the case then 147gr loads. Now I am not about to start loading up live 190gr 9mm rounds, but I was just interested in hearing some opinions on the 9mm and heavy boolits.

The heaviest bullet I've shot in 9mm weighed 156gr. It was a Lyman 147 RNFP-BB. I was able to push it up to ~171 PF (1100fps) using AA#7.

You have probably invented a rimless .38/200. I say load some up and go for it. If somebody can put a 300-gr. bullet in a .45 ACP and get it to work, you should be able to get your combination to work, too. (If successful, I want part of the credit; if you blow the gun up, this message was never posted:mrgreen:).

I do load 147 & 158 for subsonic in 9mm using V V N340.

Well I just had to try it. So I loaded up some rounds with 170gr SWC and 190gr RD. For both boolit weights I used 2gr of Bullseye, Win brass, CCI primers. Recoil was zero, report was mild, no signs of pressure, but not near enough oomph to cycle. Okay so I proved that it can be done, but there is no way I will try to put enough powder in the case to cycle the action. Just going to go back to 125gr boolits I guess.

i was using some 158 gr swc's and upped the charge of titegroup.
made it to 4 grs, still have a piece of brass in my finger over a year later.
sad thing is that those last two shots were the best that taurus ever shot.

I use 160 gr RN 38 Super bullets for my 9mm loads. Very light AA#2 loads that just work the action 100%. Works in all 9mms Ive tried including carbines and subguns. Longer bullet seems to grab the rifling better. Have to use the Lee FCD as some of the cases bulge a little.

Way to heavy for me in a nine.
Heaviest I have gone is 153 gr. That was a Lyman 356637 147 gr. mold that ran a bit heavy.
