Well, as I've mentioned I'm gearing up to start casting; I scrounged about 3 five gallon buckets of wheel weights, and then a friend who hasn't cast in 20 years said I could pick up his old supply of lead. I got it last week, and it was 306 pounds of smelted ingots, but he didn't remember the alloys. There were two kinds, ~255 pounds of one and ~51 pounds of the second.
Today Echo from our forums helped me out with some smelting and we also tested the hardness of two of those ingots. The first one was BHN of 22.7!!!! I've now got 255 pounds of what appears to be pure linotype!!!!
