Folks-

I read on one of the other web sites that a gentleman noted loading this bullet in both his 308 and 30-06 with great success and accuracy. He claimed sub 2" groups at 200 yards. I guess anything is possible.

I was wondering if any of "our crew" have tried this and what results they have achieved. Your particular load data, rifle, optics, etc would be a real help.

I'm planning on loading this particular bullet in both 30-30 and 30-06 (rifle only).

Comments?

Any 30 caliber boolit can be used in 30-06 or 308. I have been using 311041 for years in 308 and 30-30 with outstanding accuracy. I now have a 311-165 Ranch Dog mold and I expect it to be just as good. I usually shoot in the 1600 to 1800 fps range. I use the common loads such as 10 gr. of Unique, 16 gr. of 2400, or 22 gr. of H4895. My optics are Weaver K2.5 scopes on all of my rifles using scopes and Lyman or Weaver peep sights on non-scope rifles. My rifles are Marlin 30-30 and Savage 99 in 308 (loaded down to 30-30 speeds). Don't worry, just load up some cast boolits and go to the range to see how they shoot. Start out in the 1600 - 1800 fps range, you may decide stay there.

Thanks for the information;
I think this will work out fine.

No experience in the 30.06 but great success in a Marlin 336 in 30-30 at 100yds. The picture is a Lyman 311041 but the results with NOE RD 311-165 copy are just about identical. I stuck with the Lyman only because my gun seems to have a tighter throat than most so I had to short seat the boolit slightly or it would engrave very heavily making the lever hard to close.
