I'm looking for information/potentially good loads with Bartlett's 820 pull down powder (the lot with Accurate #9 burning characteristics). I'm using it in .41 and .44 Magnums in a pair of Ruger Flat Top Blackhawks.

I've got cast commercial bullets for both calibers.

The weights are: 215 gr BBSWC for the .41 Mag as well as 210 gr JSP's.

I've also got 240 gr and 215 gr BBSWC's for the .44 Mag, as well as 200 gr JSP's.

Any and all information would be appreciated. Many thanks in advance. Rodfac

Rodfac, I use 17 grs. (thrown, but 17.2 grs. by weight) of WC 820/AA #9 in my .44mag. Ruger SBH with a LR mag. primer and get 1,275 fps +- 32 fps from a 10.5" bbl. using Lyman #429421. That CB is sized to .431" and roll crimped. The load & CB are very accurate and relatively comfortable to shoot.

id start at 17 in the 41 and 19 in the 44 with those bullets. 820 needs a little pressure to burn properly and alothough some will argue my chrono and my load developement has shown that a mag primer is the way to go with it.

Maven and Lloyd...many thanks....I'll try your recommendations and report back. I chrono most of my accurate loads and I'll include that information as well. Rod

My limited experience with the .41 mag used AA #9 under a 210 gr. boolit with a heavy roll crimp. I don't recall the exact load.

My .2
In three different .41s -- 17.5gr of AA#9 - worked very well with a 410459 cast hp Keith
and 220- 230Keiths - WWLP-- also have used Fed 155 both work fine in my guns of course
5.5" Redhawk
4 5/8 Black hawk
6" DWA
muzzle velocity were 1400 with the 210gr and 1380 or so with the heavier or solid Keiths
