I run out of J-word bullets for my Quide Gun in a middle of the moose season here.
I desided to change to 400 grain boolits that I have casted with my mountain mould set up..
Did not have any proper gaschecks for the caliber so I used some ingenuity..;)
Punched some blanks from copper sheet with 9/16" punch, Put a .452 nose punch to my 450 Lyman with .458 calibrating set up.. Put the round lubricated copper blanks to the 450 Lyman.. and swage them down with the .452 punch..
Not perfect gaschecks, but I bet they will do what they expect them to do..;)

Later on I inserted them to the boolits and calibrated and lubed them..
Unfortunately the temperature is already so low here that my lube did not run as planned..
Still..
I will load some and test them in couple of days.. Hopefully have them ready on next weekend for the moose..;)

PS. I should have used another nose punch but in hurry I used the .452 one..

seppos;
I believe that those will DO THE JOB! Good thinking!

You may just find that those cast bullets work at LEAST as well as jacketed bullets. In my 45/70 Marlin 1895 I wouldn't consider using anything else. If they wiped out the buffalo (Bison to the nit-pickers;-)) then they cerainly should do fine with Moose.

Good luck on your hunt!
