what causes this ?
I have had it on a few pots that there was like a foam kinda slimey surface [smilie=s:
fluxing doen't seem to hep any :cbpour:

Are you talking about a frothy oatmeal looking floaty stuff ? Thats zinc probably.
If it casts ok use it up. You can drop a drip of muratic acid to see if you get a zinc reaction or not.
Also if it is a little zinc in it , your boolits will be really hard.

Thought maybe it was zink but wasn't sure
musta missed some in my w/w
its annoying more than anything
it doesnt hurt the cast but like I say annoying

What temp are you smelting? If you keep the heat under 740 or so, the zinc won't melt, floats to the top. I find some of the same "foam" when smelting stick-on ww. The glue/foam tape gets kind of gooy. Try fluxing w/ something more carbon based, like sawdust, stir w/ a wooden paint stick. it might help "soak" up the offending foam.
