Was casting some 300 gr. ML sabot boolits and was short on the sawdust and trying to think of another source of flux. Welllll I went in and emptied the shredder basket. FLUX! Worked great. Shredder shreds! Even some old GOLD, SILVER, and Platinum from shredded credit cards! I wonder how that will alloy/flux in! LOL. It'll make boolits suitable for werewolves and vampires! Just another source of material for us poor guys. Best to all, 10

Wood, paper or anything with carbon but I would be hesitant about plastic as they might release something that I would not even want to light on fire. The wood chips I think are the best like when you burn ceder it gives a nice smell.

Roofing tar is by far the best and longest lasting flux. No one in their right mind would use it though. Its NAAAAASTY!!

I've tried all sorts of fluxing materials, but for me nothing works anywhere near as well as crayons. Whenever I find them on sale I buy a couple of boxes. A crayon or two along with a kitchen match and a good thorough stirring and the melt is cleaned right up.
