I just received my Accurate Molds custom 433270WC full wadcutter 2-cavity.
It is my first mould from AM and looks very nicely done ! I will cast a few this weekend to experiment a bit.

I must say it was a pleasure working with Tom. It took exactly five days from paying for the order until its arrival at my door !
The entire process of design, drawing, and delivery was less than 10 days ! :) :)

I'd love to get one of those in .223 for my Savage bolt gun. You never see bullet molds for .22 bullets in the 69-75gr range, they're always for the light ones and they don't shoot well out of my 1 in 9 gun.

Just got back from State Marching band comp (band parent thing) and found the two Accurate moulds I had ordered last week, in the mail box:). Along with the 311291 used NOE mould there too, its going to be a busy week!!!

I noticed this thread last sunday.
I thought I kinda want to try a brass mold some day.
I went to Tom's website, He has a ton of standard designs.
I seen that one of his standard designs is a 41 WC button nose in 190 gr.
I thought, WOW ! I like the 41 and I haven't seen a mold in a WC before.
so I placed an order through the Website sunday evening. I was able to specify
what size I wanted the bullet to drop with what alloy (WW @ .412).
I also asked a question in the comments line of the Paypal order form.
Tom responded with the answer about 2 hours later...on a Sunday night, WOW !
This morning...that's 3 1/2 days later...the postman delivered it to my door.
I could never imagine "CUSTOM" service like this via Mail-order (ur Web-order)

GLL;
That's a FINE looking mould. The service is certainly impressive. It's a shame they aren't four cavity moulds - that would be even better.

Jerry, those are nice photos, also. Let's us see the construction details of the moulds. They look first rate.

Considering that you get to spec the moulds as you desire these custom moulds are not pricey at all in my opinion ! Prices for Tom's work is the same as NOE, BRP, MiHec. All four give a great product at reasonable cost ! I buy from all of them and am very pleased with the results! :)

One of the benefits of Accurate Molds is that you can a single custom mould to your own specs in about a week or so ! You do NOT have to rely on a Group Buy !!! This alone is worth a few dollars in headache medicine or tequila ! No stress ! :)

A 2-cavity aluminum mould is $86.00 SHIPPED !

5/16" slot and single pin/screw/bolt --- that is the most common set up out there --- only a few will want something different --- suggest you politely decline such requests --- don't want to wear out the new guy who is doing great so far and make him grouchy and grumpy like MM --- (No insult intended to MM --- just he has been worn out and worn over by crazy custom requests and although I don't blame him it does make it a little harder to work with him as a cust)

Assuming pistol cavities (shorter than half the height of the block, such as those on GLL's pics in post #1), do you think there is enough meat on the bottom of these moulds for Erik to do a Cramer-HP conversion?

TomAM

All my mold blocks are 1.48" tall, and it would be easy to offer taller blocks upon request if there's sufficient demand.

Although only Erik (www.hollowpointmold.com) could say for sure I see no reason why not looking at my mold from Tom; just as much meat on the bottom if not more then a Lyman, RCBS, or Mountain mold all of which Erik has done Cramer-HP conversions for. Even if for some reason (maybe some of the longer boolit lengths) there wasn't room Erik could still probably make his new inset bar system (really nice) work since he doesn't need near as much clearance for that set-up.

two days ago, I finally got around to casting with the 41 WC button nose in 190 gr. Mold I got from Accurate Molds (see photo in post #15). The alloy I used was 50/50 WW/soft. They dropped easily from the mold with just a light tap and right at .412 just as I spec'd in my order to Tom...Thanks Tom.

I am Lube-sizing them right now.

I ordered my first mold from Tom 3 days ago, and I should have it within 2 weeks. That sure kicks the snot out of 6+ months for a group buy. Next month I will see if Tom can make a flat point version of lyman's 311465, my old single cavity mold is just too slow.

Noteworthy, is the fact that the mold is a machine type mold block for use in automatic casting machines but was set up for hand casting for an extra charge with a hand casting type sprue plate and conventional handle screws as well as the drilled and tapped holes for mounting in a casting machine. Thus I can hand cast with it for now and it will be a drop in fit for when I get a machine later. Modified a set of Lee handles by grinding a slot for the sprue plate bolt and it works great. I actually like the resulting sprue plate and hold down style better this way !!!

315180, huh? I like the looks of that. That ought to get about everything a plain base can do out of LOTS of milsurp .30/.31 calibers where dimensions are a little more generous than current standards. The blocks look purty too! Let us know how it does.

I have to brag on Tom a wee bit
a while back I sent a e-mail with a question on a mold for my 30-30 win
he has given me recommendations before on boolits so I thought one more time
I wanted a 170 gr and he came back with a new design he made and thought I should try it
well I did and here are the results

The mailman delivered a 3 cavity, brass, .44 caliber mold from Tom @ Accurate Molds today. It's a present for my father this Christmas.

Tom, again job well done. Quality and then some. The sprue plate is heavier and perfectly fitted and flat, and I like the stainless hardware. Parting surfaces rough machined (how I like it) and the venting is done correctly, you see just a hint of light looking down through the cavities. The locating pins are male/female SS (suspect these will work better than the round head dowel pins). No worry here about the locating pins wearing the mating hole and can be replaced.

My wife asked me where my mold was? It was just ordered, a 3 cavity, brass in .41 caliber semi wad cutter.

About turn-a-round; just as Tom lists on his website - 2 weeks. Nice to see another business that fulfills what they advertise.

Going to use both molds together to cast softer wad cutters for medium velocity target loads and having first class molds will make the job go so much better. Really interested in the output (bullets per hour). Being and engineer and having foundry experience, I always look for efficiency and yield (here yield is the quality of good after inspection).

Having cast 360 plus ingots (5/8's pound cylinders) of wheel weights in the last month or two, ready to go. I'll post more on the results. Might have to melt the other 3- 5 gallon buckets of ww's to keep the furnace charged!!!
