Went to the range again. Took the Max out, as last time I shot it, it put three touching @100yds with the 359-190RD, but the threw others all over. Figured maybe bit harder alloy needed because of velocity. Using ww's +1%tin, water quenched.
Went with "Blammer"'s #2 alloy, water quenched, and cast a few and also pulled out my 35-200RCBS mould, as had not tried it before.
BIG MISTAKE not trying it.
Tried the RD boolits, but nothing to brag about, about 3"@2,300fps. Pulled a round loaded with the RCBS slug and shot our gongs @100 to see where it impacted. About 6" lower than the RD. Came up 24 clicks and was about 2.5" high@100yds. Shot for group, aiming at bottom of "diamond", should have put crosshairs in center, my mistake. Hard to keep crosshair at bottom of diamond, but first shot hit almost center, next three went into a 3/4" group and let last shot go a little high. It likes the RCBS boolit. One over the chrono was 2,285 fps.
Tried to shoot a bowling pin hanging@430yds, but kept going left(bit of wind, not much, held over too far). Good thing was, the 4 shots would have stayed in the palm of my hand, had I been holding it out to the side of the pin.
Will try again tomorrow to see if it wasn't a fluke.
How come the gun likes the boolit that I only have a 2 cav mould for, instead of a 4-6 cav. where I could cast many more in the same amount of time???
