Has anyone tryed the Ranch Dog boolit, TLC460-425-RF in the BC 45-70? If so, will it have to be throated?

RD boolits are made to fit the Marlin 1895 throat. Marlin 45/70's typically have 0.030 to 0.045 of throat at most. Not knowing what a BC 45-70 is, I would seat a PB boolit or flat based jacketed bullet backwards. Ease the boolit depth deeper til the action just closes. Measure the OAL, subtract the case length, and you will know.

BC = Buffalo Classic, NEF Handi Rifle; notoriously short throated. I never tried a RD 425 boolit in mine, but I'm going to say ~ probably.

I gave some to a friend and he shoots them OK in his BC. They do have to be seated to the top groove. His rifle has a lot of rounds through it, so I don't know if there is any throat erosion in play there.
