Icant think of anyplace nearby except a beekeeper that would have beeswax, except all our bees are now rentals from Virginia! Where would I look for it commercially?

There's plenty on EPay, theres a guy on there called "The Wax Works" that sells nice stuff and if you buy 10 pounds its delivered to you door for under $4 a pound. Delivery is fast too. If you hand around here long enough there will probably be a group buy eventually where you can get it far cheaper. HTH

There is a honey place between rt 340 and Winchester VA on rt 7 that sells me wax. They used to sell honey to the public too but only sell it to businesses now. I can't remember the name but they are on the left going towards Winchester not far past the Berryville road.

Another source, if you don't want to buy off the Internet, is call your local Agriculture Extension Office and ask them for some names & telephone numbers of bee keepers in your area

There's always beeswax for sale on Ebay. You'd have to be pretty desperate to buy it from a crafts store.

Don't look for a group buy unless someone comes up with an incredible source. Most of the regulars loaded up a lifetime supply a year or two ago.

I priced out one of the less expensive brands of lube at $32 a pound. My homebrew runs me maybe $5 a pound. Granted, I would never notice the difference over the couple of years that a pound lasts for me, but I would rather do it myself.

My recipe is real close to yours DJ, and I CANT buy lube that good! ......Buck

I enjoy making lube myself. But it is time consuming at least in the case of felix lube. A lb of wax isnt going last me a very long time. I picked up about 50lbs 2 years ago and its gone. Ive bought lars lube but havent really tried it alone. Ive used his harder lube to stiffen up my felix lube. But at 1.50 a stick its looking tempting to just buy it and use the time i make lube to shoot. Ive used alox (javalina) and had good luck with it and his 5050 lube is about the same thing. Only reason i went to making my own is long term bullet storage problems with javalina something that could easily be cured by just mixing both of his lubes. Alot of you guys shoot cast in rifles exclusivly and thats a differnt game but in all reality it doesnt take a super duper hi tech lube to shoot in handguns and i guess my thoughts are that if i cant find cheap bulk wax its hardly worth the bother.

Have you tried making speed green? Its about as simple as it gets.
Just mix 3 to 1 by weight of bee's wax to bull plate lube. For one lb of lube mix 4oz bull plate with 12 oz bee's wax and thats it. Once mixed it will not sepperate no matter how many time you remelt it. This is a good all weather lube that requires no heat at room temp for lubrisizers. The bull plate will not freeze at any temp. I have tested it to -50 F and it remained liquid.
