:coffee: ----SOG made good on a bad M24/47---sent thru a good one--Good distributer---I'm cleaning the bore right now (should be in bed)----A load recommended by the group shot well----Lee--175gr.g/c with 18 grs. of 2400---went as high as 24grs. but the 18grs. did the best

Hi, there, mag_01, I'm pleased to hear that SOG fulfilled your request. It is nice to know which busineses will "unscrew" a wronged customer.

I use the same basic 2400 load with the 175-grain Lee for my 8x57JS cast cartridges. I also use load data out of the Lyman 46th handloading manual for H380 and Sierra Game Kings for jacketed full house loads.

Some folks are currently working on 8x57JS load development using IMR7383 with the custom mould 253-grain 8mm cast boolit. I am looking forward to those results as well, since IMR7383 is my favorite non-cast boolit powder and it is nice whenever there is a cast load that can utilize this highly unusual propellant.

I have two 24/47s and one is just so-so but the other has better than average accuracy. I also have two other 8mm Mauser Yugos, a 24/52c and a 98/48. The 98/48 is a Yugoslavian rebuild of Soviet Union captured WW2 Nazi early issue Gewehr K98k rifles. I bought them from Samco Global around Christmas 2005 and I like them all.

When the 8x57JS cartridge is loaded up to its full designed power instead of the stupid wimpy SAAMI specifications meant to prevent blowing up the older 0.318"-bore 8x57J rifles when accidentally fired in one, the cartridge is pretty darned close to the power of the .30-06. The 0.323"-size projectile is even better than the 0.308" projectile for large game, probably being closer to the .338s in performance than the .30s. Just in the last year or so according to one of my buddies who owns a gun store here in New Mexico, the 8mmJS is getting to be popular in the Rocky Mountains for elk and black bear. It is probably because of the recent increase of the popularity of the Yugo 8mm Mauser milsurps.

Good Luck!
