already put fillers out about having someone make one for me. some no's rest where 300+ to do it.

since I picked up an stock blank for $27 and will be in on the 18th.

planning stage
take an 1x6 or and 2x6 board and cut an template of the over all stock design I want.

take an another piece of wood and learn to cut the barrel channel and action in lays.

(my wife's idea) learn to carve (think she wants me to take up an second hobby to pay for the first)

est. 6 months to an year to complete the stock.

going to take my time.

Corey, I would suggest going to the Muzzleloader Magazine web site, and see if you can get a copy of "The Gunsmith of Grenville County". He will walk you through every step with good pictures, and save you a lots of problems. They are getting ready to do a re-print, and it would be worthwhile to be on their order list.
You may also find a copy through Amazon, or Abe's Books, although I'm sure you will pay more there.

I might also suggest a copy of "Recreating the American Longrifle" by Buchele, Shumway, and Alexander. It is geared toward scratch-building a full stock rifle but was what I used to guide me through building a 1/2 stock Ohio-style percussion rifle from scratch. If I were to have but one book on hand to build another stock, this would be it. Available in paperback, so not expensive.

Corey.
Go to your local Woodcrafters and buy a bottle of THIN cyanoacrylate adhesive (super glue). Keep flowing the THIN stuff into the crack untill it fills. This is a common problem with figured wood and is an easy fix. Be sure to buy THIN adhesive.
