I am really sorry, I can't find the info on WHO sent me the frame to try this on before I spent money on another frame to do the conversion on. I promised I would show you what I had and I finally found the micarta thick enough to go forward on this project. Only problem the thickest I found is still 1/8" too thin (couldn't find 1/2" slabs till this summer).

I still have to install a cross screw and locator pin in them, shape the other frame, and finish the outside. when I get some money to try this again with 1/2" slabs I will, and use a end mill to inlet them, or use slab sides and glue a 3rd bit in the middle. These are for a abused 45LC Ruger blackhawk I own. Here is a pic of the abused gun (http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_zR18eDaoSvw/R2DKoKXLhLI/AAAAAAAAAC0/XsZh47a4gzA/s1600/DSC00003.JPG)

FWIW, Sheffield knife supply sells micarta 1.5"X12" blocks, and they are reasonably priced, depending on the color.

Your "Blackhawk" looks like a Vaquero with a S&W adjustable rear sight added. Nice setup. I like the looks of the rounded top with an adjustable sight more than the flat top look of the Blackhawk. If you can locate some, Corian countertop material makes nice grip material to work with.

Yeah the rear sight that I got on the gun had a rough V notch filed out of the old rear sight cross member. The sight leaf was gone entirely
