Anyone out there tried using this for lube?

I was using it at work the other day and noticed it looks and smells just like Lee Liquid ALOX.

Nope. I've used straight Amsoil HD Metal Protector (motorcycle chain lube) before, it works pretty well for pistol stuff. Smells like cosmoline.

LLA or rather alox was originally designed i believe to be a rust preventative and is often stated to work best on inner fenders vs boolits , if u have seen the painted boolit thread one begins to believe that alot of things are possible lolz but the best bet ? try it and report back ! ( ie; we're curious too - it may be the next best thing since ummm... something lolz )

From the MSDS:

COMPONENT CAS NUMBER % by Wt.
Mineral spirits 8052-41-3 40 – 50
Calcium oxidate NJRTK 800967-5454 35 - 45
Hydrotreated light distillates 64742-47-8 8 - 13
Calcium sulfonates 26264-06-2 5 - 10

The calcium oxidate and sulfonates sounds like LLA.
Will you try spray lubing or spray-and-tumble lubing?

Well now, that's a good point. No calcium compounds in the Amsoil stuff IIRC.

You could be the first, give it a try and report back.

Defenitely you should test the stuff..
I found one substitute for LLA from autostore..
It is Dinitrols Combi wax that smells and feels like LLA.

OK, I'll give her a try and report back.

I'm just going to spray some boolits then load and shoot.

Has anyone ever tried the wax emulsions (paraffin wax and microcrystaline wax) used for coating the exposed ends of logs during drying? It certainly sounds like Rooster Jacket.
I will look some time, but I am happy with Alox/Xlox.

Seppos:

Where did you get the Combi Wax? A Google search lead to a U.K. company who sent me to an American distributor. I have sent an email to them asking for retail sources. The product isn't listed online from O'Reilly's or Auto Zone.

Later: I received the email and 77B would have to be ordered from Germany (with all the freight and Hazmat charges that apply). The distributor is really set up for large shipments and apparently there are no retailers of 77B in the U.S.

Beardan--I think here in the USA that LPS#3 would be the equivalent of that Combi wax product.

Sorry.. I live behind the big water..;)
I checked that in USA there is a company that represents the Dinitrol, but did not checked it any further..
I bet there is another alternatives if you guys just keep your eyes open..
Very often the substitute could be found from the stuff that is used for same purpose..
