All you Enfield guys, what is the trick to get the small pin out of the rear site? I have a micrometer site that I want to replace it with. Don't want to buggar it up. Looks like it should be driven out, need help.

If the retainer pin can't be driven out with a small dimaeter drift, simply take a brass hammer and wack the rear sight pivot pin hard. This will shear off the small diameter retaining pin which can be easily extracted off the gun.

Curator beat me to it! The retainer pin is easily replaced later.

Where is an inexpensive place to get a micrometer rear sight for my No 4? I've got the two peep flip and want a better one.

just drive the pin upward and it should slide out. I got my last micrometor sight from Gun Parts.

Do NOT smack the crosspin! Do what NickSS says, and tap the small pin UPWARDS to remove it. Use a small drift punch.

Thanks for the info. Will try driving it out. I picked the site up at a gun show, a lot nicer than the original one. Will let you know how I make out.

Springfield Sporters (ssporters.com) has new milled adjustable sights for $25. They had reasonable shipping charges the last time I ordered from them. Some of the bigger outfits will charge a lot more for shipping.

Will these adjustable sights work on the US M-1917 "Enfield"?

Thanks,

Stew

I have both rifles and a spare Singer or two it was right in front of me, but I never thought to try swapping them over. Sounds too easy, if it would work, I'm sure I would have heard of it before.
