Anyone shooting cast in a .44 Mag T/C barrel?

Just kicking around the idea of buying a 10" T/C barrel to go with my other .44's. I have a bead on a used one and the price seem pretty good. [smilie=s:

Do they shoot cast well? All my .44's like the .431/.432" variety. Same with the T/C's?

Or ligher boolits slow

So far Mid range loads have not produced great accurcy

But the top end loads do a number on deer

Just sold a ten inch bull that I never fired Jacketed in but it got a lot of 429421 size .430 and it liked it. only two powder go into 44 mag case's here unique ( 10 Grains) and WW296 (23 grains)

Never had a speck of leading in over 300 rounds. I do have a 429434 mold that will be going out to get the gas check removed as soon as the economy gets better. I expect that may be my neww 44 boolit for the super 14 44 mag barrel I bought to replace the 10 incher.

I have two T/C 44 barrels. An original "Hotshot" with external choke and a 10" bull barrel. I can shoot most anything cast in the bull barrel and it does well, the hotshot is problematic and works best with 215 gr. 44 Special cast loads. One really "BIG" factor in the hotshot barrels performance is its weight, its light and doesn't help control recoil, but its the best forest grouse gun I've got when loaded with shot shells. I like both barrels, but they are totally different excepting bore.

My TC barrel (was a 10" but shortened to 8.4") shoots cast really well. With PB bullets I have to back off the loads for optimum accuracy at 1400 + fps. The TC barrel produces much higher velocities than a revolver so it can easily push PB cast to hard. Mine really likes the 429244 GC'd bullet over H110 or H4227. I size my .44s .430.

Ole, I recently got a super 14 44 magnum barrel. With most cast loads it shot about 1.5 inches at 50 yards.
