Does anyone shoot this monster subsonic out of their SBH in .44? I had been shooting it out of my TC. Was switching to SBH for this deer season and wont be taking shots over 300 yrds. I would like to start subsonic, because it doesn't shed velocity so fast when it starts subsonic and stays there. VS. starting supersonic then going subsonic. The boolit profile is not condusive to supersonic flight.

Out of a revolver---NO, don't ignore twist rates and if you have a 1 in 20 twist, you need to shoot the boolit fast enough.
Believe me when I say the boolit will shoot FAR and stay stable.
But you are shooting too far for a .44 even if you can hit an animal. Drop of the boolit is too much and energy loss is too much.
Starting subsonic will not leave enough energy at long range anyway.
Most heavy .44 boolits will drop about 35" at 200 yards with a 75 yard setting.
If you want to shoot far, get a bigger gun or a rifle caliber. I can not promote shooting deer with a .44 past 100 yards no matter what Elmer did in desperation to stop a wounded animal.

I was kidding about the 300 yrd thing. 100 is about my limit with a hand gun. I have been shooting 8.5 gr U under 255 swc GC boolit. I want to move up to my 310 gr boolit but dont want to part my hair with the front sight.

I use 21.5 gr of 296 with the Lee 310, also a Fed 150 primer. It is super accurate and does not recoil that bad. My velocity from a 10" barrel is around 1320 fps, never checked the Lee but the 320 gr LBT is 1316 fps so I am guessing.
Many groups under 1" at 50 yards and it is a deer killer to 100 yards.
Just hold the grip tight and get over the "roll" in the hand junk. No six gun should roll.
We shoot the BFR .475, 45-70, .500 Linebaugh, .50 Alaskan and .500 JRH so when we go back to the .44 with as much as a 330 gr boolit, it is like a .38 because we hold it just like the big guns.
Do NOT change your grip as calibers get smaller! All handguns should be held just short of muscle quiver and the stronger you are, the tighter you can hold.
Get a grip! :bigsmyl2:
