OK, so the caliber isn't totally neglected. It just feels that way when you're looking for stuff.
So, what's your favorite mold for the 41 Mag?
I still like that Lee round nose. Lymans wadcutters aren't bad.

Wish I had an 1885 low wall with a 26" barrel chambered for 41. Oh well. It's not like I need another project.

I had Mountain Mould make me a 200 RNFP for my 41's. Works. I never got a good load for the Lyman 410032 for some reason and I tried.

Lee210 TL is a great bullet. I have a Lee 240 SWC from my Dad.Accurate but uses a bit more lead than needed My favorite is the Milhec 200 HP/ 210 solid. Casts alittle heavier. 210 HP and 220 solid.Little harder to cast then the Lees, but love the HP. i have a 45 .453 Milhec for my 45ACP uses. 200 g HP/ 21o solid. For easy casting and lubing the Lee 210TL is great .Have the 230g TL for the 45 ACP also.In fact i have the Lee .314 90 g . 350g .460 Ranchdog, and the Lee .312 7.39.39g and 6.5 mold. Lees not fancy but works for me. The Milhec are like a fine car.......( P.S. i use Universal powder for medium loads is all)

I have the rcbs 41-210 also. 17gr of 296 works well. Also have a LBT 230gr lfn that shoots very well.

I've always thought the same as you, I've got a NEI (a good one, from years past) double cavity 220 grain Keith (it casts at 230) and it's a great one, the Mihec 411-200 hollow point Cramer (casts a solid point at 230 and is best described as a LFN) and a WLN style 250 grain 80% meplat plain base from Mountain Molds, all three of these shoot sickeningly good out of all three 657's, I shoot the first two over 8.5 grains of Unique and the heavier one over 16 grains of 2400.
Do yourself a favor and go to Mountain Molds and design what you want, Dan will do good, don't try to buy a NEI now, you'll be sorry, if Blammer has some extra's from his group buy, get one.

I like the SAECO 170 gr SWC made for the 41 Action Express for a light target load.

I have a BH in 41, my second attempt. my first was GREAT, but a buddy had to have it for his dad. Got this one for a steal. have been loading 210 gr fp's, but would like something heavier. Around 230 gr. After cutting new forcing cone, the 210's are really accurate. The mid range 210's will not exit our larger hogs when fired through shoulders. Forget a raking ham shot. I think a 230 fn at max velocity would be great. Not like the 41 is all that tough on recoil anyway.

I really like the Saeco 220gr. Truncated Cone GC. Very accurate bullet, casts easy and very consistent weight.

I like a 410610 for a GCSWC, plain base is 410032 and 410028. They are all good ones.

I used the Lyman 41-212-SWCPB (no longer offered by Lyman) and a 41AE-165-TCBB I had cut in three old Lyman 9mm four cavity moulds. Both were extremly accurate in the 41 Mag. I always liked the 41 as it was a bit easier to shoot than the 44. The 165 was a nice low range plinker.

S&W are bringing back some of thier Mod 57 41's.

Picked up a worn 375167HP the other day with a wobbly pin.
Pondering getting it turned into a heavy gas checked WFN HP arranged to fit the old Ruger single action cylinder.

I actually had that Lee 240SWC try to key hole. Really surprized me. Heavy duty 296 made it behave. But, the recoil put my trigger finger out of commission for six months!

I also cast the Lee 210 gr TL boolit and have gotten excellent performance in both my Blackhawk and my 14" Contender barrel.

410459 & 410459 hp by buckshot
Mihia's cramer gb mold
Mountain Mold 255 lwngc
NEI SSK 275 Tc that casts out at about 290 gr
all will shoot very well and out of very different guns

410459 Lyman or Saeco 411. Basically the same boolit, but my Lyman is a 2-banger and the Saeco is a 4-banger. I use 6.7 grains of SR (IMR) 7625 for about 900fps from my 6: S&W M-57 and the same load in shortened brass for about the same speed from my 4" Titanium Tracker Taurus. I haven't shot "magnum" loads out of the Smith in years, but if I ever do again it will be the Lyman or Saeco boolit over 19gr 2400. The Taurus is simply vicious with magnum ammo. The 250 WW Silvertips I have are just not fun to shoot. They can be fun to watch some one else shoot, but they're no good for defensive use. Takes too long to recover from each shot. The light handload I listed works well in the Taurus. It's very much like shooting .357 Magnum factory loads out of a Smith M-19 K-frame. A little snappy, but reasonably easy to control.

Regards,

Stew

The 41026 WC is a real splatter with lots of 2400.
Thought about testing the 41027 loaded backwards but you would need a different (smaller diameter) plug to keep it from simply shearing off. Makes a good minie ball but it's a pain to mold.

I've been trying to find a Lymna 220grSWC mold for quite a while & settled on the RCBS 210gr. It works for me.

I'm with Guesser, I really like my 410610 mold. One of the holes has been HP'd by Buckshot, and I use a lot of them alloyed at WW+2%. They are sized at .413" for use in my M57 6".
The load I use the most is 8.5gr of Unique for the solid at about 1150fps, and 11.0gr of Herco with the HP for 1250fps.
I often shoot an RCBS 210KT in linotype sized .413 with 18.5gr 2400 for 1425fps if I have need for penetration, hunting or ??? This would be the load I carry if I go out for a drive and a "walkaround" for a couple days.(I live in Nevada, and from time to time I take a couple days and camp on the desert. I HAVE had problems with range cattle. They CAN be obstinate! Note...It WILL the most expensive beef you've EVER bought!!)
If I go out to shoot cans or bust dirtclods, I use 170gr TC Lyman 410639 cast from WW+2% with 5.0-Bullseye for 850fps.
I'm doing a little experimenting with a Lee mold, 90332, that throws about a 240gr boolit. It's a TL, but the boolits are a little small, so I will prolly try beagleing for the first time.
Have fun, 'cause I will,
Gene

I've had great luck with the lee 210 TL and 2400. Lubed with Lars Red and kept middle of the road is where I found my best accuracy.

Beagling is done by adding aluminum tape between the halves of a mold to make a larger boolit. You can see that would cause other problems. Go back through the archives, and you'll find references to it, especially from Beagle, for whom it was named.
The reference to my having fun are because it may, or may not be the answer.
Have fun,
Gene

No neglect here. I have four different 41 designs including an inproved version of the 220 grain Lyman. My favorite, and accuracy champ is the 410426 HP over 20.5 grs of WW 296 and a CCI 300 primer.

I cast both RCBS plain base bullets. One casts 215 and the other 220 grains. 9 grains of Unique works well with either bullet. I used to use 16 grains of 2400 for a so called "hot" load, but chronographed them both in three different S&W guns, and found out the Unique load was hotter than the 2400 load?

I use the 410610 that casts about 225grs with ww. It's loaded with more Blue Dot than I care to mention for 1480 fps. The only thing I have shot with it is an artic hare. Very destructive. I'm now using a home made bullet that is made from a 40s&w case sized to 410 and filled with lead. It weighs right at 270gr and will hit 1200fps with a case full of H110/296. Sure been wanting to try that on something bigger than a rabbit.
