View Full Version : Processing radiator shop drip tank leavings

Twice a year I collect the drip tank leavings from a local radiator shop.
Last week I got 73lbs of mixed leavings. I just finished processing it and weighing the resulting solder ingots. Wound up with 46 lbs of solder. Last time I was in the shop I checked the box of solder the tech uses. Says 60/40 on the box.

Best part is he gives it to me for free to save himself a trip to a recycler that will take lead (nearest one is 50 miles each way).

Thats great my wifes uncle has a radiator shop I just cant get him to use the buckets to catch the drippings for me just to lazy so the guy thats saving it for you I buy a lunch or something.

I do, but he refuses to take money for the drippings.

If your wife's uncle sweeps up his shop or cleans out his drip tank, the sweepings have to go somewhere. A bucket set aside for that is ideal.
