Dear Friends, I own a double rifle in 9,3*74 R, an old german catridge.

Because I am a lead maniac I want to use it with lead bullets.

But there is no manfacturer for such a mould.

Can I use the Lyman 378674 to cast bullets and then size them to .366?

It would be less costly than a custom mould for the rifle.

I live in europe and we have only very little custom mould makers.

I would size them to .368". You can try it and see how it works. I have sized boolits from a 37-250 RCBS mould down to .368" for use in my Tikka 512 in the same caliber and they work fairly well. I first sized them to .375" and lubed them, then sized to .368".

Try that with the 378674 mould, size/lube to .375", then go down to .368". Should work. Might have to seat the bullet deeper, due to nose of the bullet being a diameter more for a .375" bore rifle.

Thank you very much!!

My rifle is a Tikka 512 S, too.

I wonder that such an odd caliber made it to the US.

Did you ever tried paperpatched bullet?

Not all that odd. Hornaday is now loading it, so brass is available. Color me jealous. I'd love to have a barrel for my Encore but nobody chambers it yet.

There's a group buy about to take place for a NOE mold:

IIRC, the group buy is closed, but the production date was just moved back several months, so maybe if you talk to the Honcho, he can do something for you.

CBE. Great moulds. I don't know about shipping to Europe but they ship to the States no problem.

Wayne, I am sure MGM would make you an encore in that caliber.

Haven't tried paper patching, but that is on my list.

Don't know about you getting a mould from the US, but Dan at Mountain Moulds will make you one. He made me one at 290gr.
