Your thoughts Piloted Muzzle Facing Tool

Anyone here use one of the 11 degree tools with a bore pilot to face a barrel?

Wonder if they are that good (precise) or I should just use the old famous bolt head and grinding compound trick!

I have one my Dad made 30 some years back. I would imagine the commercial versions work even better. Given the choice between lapping a crown in or cutting it, I'll cut it every time. But then, I spent hours lapping crowns in way back when.

I have one and it works. I wrap a thin layer of Teflon plumbers tape around the pilot and go slow with a 1/2" cordless drill. Some times I have had to make a special pilot to get the fit that I want because of the bore size. I have found that SLOW RPM with a steady pressure works great and just as the drill is about to stop take the pressure off.
