Went to Cabela's the other night to get some 2400, Rx7, and 5744. They didn't have any of those, so I wound up with H322 and IMR4895. I still plan to get those others when I can.
For the moment, I'll be loading Hodgdon 300gr JHP's. In the not too distant future I'll be using Mihec's 459122, approx 375 solid or 350 hp. I'd like to get a 300-325gr mold in the future.
I'm looking through my manuals and online resources, but I'd appreciate suggestions from those already experienced with these two powders.
My most immediate use will be paper at 50-100 yards. Later, white tail in Maine and hopefully feral hogs down south. I don't envision myself shooting at anything live over 100 yards. I'm not necessarily looking for max loads or fps. Strong enough to do what I need but otherwise pleasant to shoot.
Gun is a brand new Marlin 1895 standard model with 22" barrel. Been to the range once so far. Mounted scope is a Bushnell Banner 1.5-4.5x32. Limb-saver slip-on, but I haven't shot it with this yet. I have shot 405JSP's w/30gr 5744 and they seemed pretty stout, but this was with the Marlin brick (pad). 300jhp w/38, 39, 40gr Rx7 seemed quite mild.
