have what i believe is a military swiss vetterli. gun is in very good shape except for being rimfire. as i'm sure no rimfire ammo is available has anyone ever converted one to centerfire? i think there was also a civilian version in centerfire. anyone know of a source for parts and if they would interchange? as i said the gun is in good shape and would like to hear it go bang. thanks for listenin' and have a good'en neighbors, bubba.

There are several methods of converting to CF. You'll find everything you need to know here:

i to have one of these rifles, but mine was one that was converted to the italian 6.56x52 carcano. everything i have read says it was a weapon of last resort issued to non com personel, and they were instructed to only use it as a last resort. but a quick google of vetterli turned up this artical where a guy has figured out how to make his shoot, i didnt read the whole thing but it may help you out.

I have 3 with conversions. All shoot pretty well, and draw some looks at the range. They respond well to light loads of smokeless too.
