Picked up ~16lbs of powder from a buddy of mine. Curious to know more than what's on the label, if anyone can fill me in. I saw a few similar threads.

I have no use for the containers, if anyone is into collecting, lemme know.

Everyone of the cans I can see in that batch are currently produced and very much usable. Unless IMR has changed since I last bought, they still package in those slabside cans.

The only can I can't see is that Winchester round can in the back on the right.. Need to know the # on the can so we can comment. There are several that have been discontinued.. the ones that come to mind are 540, 452AA, 473, 571, 785, and 680. 540 = Hodgdon HS6, 571 = Hodgdon HS7, 452AA = Trap 100. The others didn't have a translation that I knew about.

Those old 2400 and Reloader 7 square cans might have some collector value empty. I sold some old cans like that on flea-bay some years ago..

Thanks fellas. I knew most are still current prod. (the WIN can is 231..). I was curious due to the price tag on some of them. The 2400 is marked ~$3, the 700x ~$5. I did not know they were still offered in the slabcans, they're damn sure easier to store than the round plastic jugs.

The Hercules 2400 and other square cans can be dated somewhat. If the snap cap has the red Hercules on it it is 1966 or earlier, that's when they stopped that cap. If it is just silver with "U press it" on it it is between 1966 and the 70's when they switched to the round cardboard containers. The IMR 4227 can in the lower right could be from the early 70's, I have one identical that was purchased then. Hope this helps.

The cans are going away , The new lots are coming out in the same bottles as Hodgdon powders are supplied in !

The DuPont cans predate IMR takeover of the production and distribution of the DuPont reloading powders. I think this was sometime between '86 and 1992. Regards, Woody

The stuff with the "IMR" trademark on the top isn't very old.

The Hercules powders in the cube containers, the WW in the round container and the Dupont powders with the larger figures are from the 60's.
