Hello guys, I have a problem and this is deffinately the place to solve it---I hope. I want a chart that I can post at my pot, of some of the different amounts of lead to tin for some ratios. I typed it and it doesn't make sense to me either so let's try again. I want to have a chart for 40:1 from 1 pound up to 10 lbs of lead that shows the correct amount of tin to add at each 1/4 pound interval. i.e. 4pounds 8 ounces, what would be the correct amount of tin to obtain the correct 40:1.
I want this for 40:1 30:1 20:1 10:1
I know it is easy to do in even pounds but what about the 1/4 pounds that don't ever even out? I tried a search here and google and I'm probably just not smart enough to find it. Can anybody help me out or should I just get a calculator and a few hours when nothing else is going on(yeah right). Thanks for listening. Tom

just count down the numbers from 10.
5lbs=1/2 lb tin
2.5lbs = 1/4lb tin [1750 grs]
1.25 lbs [8750 grs]=1/8th lb tin [1675 grs]
.625 lb [4375]=1/16th lb tin or an oz [837.5 grs]
.3125 lb [2187.5]= half an oz [418.75 grs]
grain numbers are off the top of my head so check the numbers.

then divide tin numbers numbers by 2 for 20-1, 3 for 30-1 and 4 for 40-1.

You're welcome
I just laid out the math and let Excel auto fill do the work.

R5R, you must be talking about using 50/50 solder - or something. I truly believe 1oz = 437.5 grains, not 837.5.
