A friend gave me some more random lead, and some of them were marked "WW" -- which can be easily assumed are wheel weight ingots -- but some of them are marked "CHESS." They're in the same ingot shape and feel as the WW ingots though...?

Anyone have any idea what these are from? Toy soldiers or were chess sets ever made with lead weights?

You mean the ingot mold has the word "CHESS" in it?

The only thing i can find regarding lead chess pieces goes back to the 1800s, were painted and are fairly expensive collectibles, so I doubt those would get melted down...?

Pewter is an option as pewter chess pieces were more common, but this stuff feels/looks exactly like the wheel weight ingots.
