Good morning
Is anyone producing thier own larger sizes of shot ?
I seldom shoot doves and clay birds. I really enjoy an early morning crow calling and #5 does real good on the crows I get to pop.
So are there particulars to larger shot sizes that make it a real challenge ?

I have made shot up to about a tenth of an inch in diameter ; whatever size that is ; with my homemade shotmaker . The hole in the dripper has to be around .040" or 1mm to achieve shot of this size . I think this size is about the limit of the process . The lead level , and thus the pressure pushing the droplets out , has to be kept as low as possible otherwise the molten lead just "streams" out and does not form droplets .

Same here, 1mm drippers produce no5 shot but I had to use just 4 drippers instead of 6 to keep up with enough molten lead.

The lead can stream, takes a bit of practice and the shot are maybe not quite as round as usual but still shoot well and better than buying it.
