I would like some opinions on how i been seating gas checks.
1 I put the gas checks on the bullet
2. melt lub in a double boiler
3. dip bullet in lube harden some
4. then i push the bullet into the sizing die (lee) untill the bullet will not fall
5. lower the ram then give the gas check a sharp smack I do this to make sure the check is on square
6. give final push through smooth and easy
thanks

In my opinion, if # 1 is done correctly..... # 5 won't be necessary.

When you're handling 50 or a 100 bullets with all your steps that you've listed , just being able to take out one of those steps will speed things up considerably.

GC must be SQUARE to start with!!!
2. melt lub in a double boiler
3. dip bullet in lube harden some
I use Hornday One Shot case lube, then pan lube after sizing
4. then i push the bullet into the sizing die (lee) untill the bullet will not fall
5. lower the ram then give the gas check a sharp smack I do this to make sure the check is on square
If the GC is not on square to start with then the boolit won't get started square into the size die.
6. give final push through smooth and easy

Some times GCs fit to tight and need a little flair applied to them for good fit, a 3/8 ball bearing works for GCs 6MM to 8MM.
