Many years ago (when you could mail order guns) I bought an Interarms Mark X Tropical barreled action in 458 Win Mag. The next month I bought the stock. I do not have the front or rear sight for it so I'm looking for ideas for a sight. Scope or holo/red dot? Any ideas or suggestions?

Good morning
I have a Mark X in 30-06 that came factory tapped for receiver sights. I have been very happy with them. Finn Aagard had an article in past American Rifleman of the reciver sight he had on hie .458. On the far side of the horizontal bar he added a veticle screw so the sight could not be bent down towards the receiver. I have not done that with mine but always thought it would be a good alteration for a sight .
Forgot to add.. I have a small round brass bead on the front sight.

That would work for the rear but I don't have a front sight either. The barrel is drilled and tapped for the ramp but I haven't found one.

Find a nice band type ramp front and a nice receiver sight for the rear. Another rear alternative would be the African style shallow Vee.

NEGC has barrel band sights that are rather nice. And island rears with flip up leaves. Me, I have been thinking about trying a Docter Optic dot. They come in 1.5 MOA as well as 4 MOA, and should work well on a 458.

I saw the ramp on Gun Parts but is was for a different model - not the Alaskan. I didn't think the barrel contours would be the same. Just looked and didn't see them on their web site. What/who is NEGC - google didn't help. I haven't seen the Doctor optic. I was considering the Burris FastFire II. I seems to hold up on large caliber pistols and semi auto pistols so it would probably hold up but I didn't care for the 4 MOA dot.
