Help I loaded up some 357 mag loads for hunting using new brass, cci sp mag primers, and 12.1 grain of older Herc. 2400 powder under (Sorry) 180 grain remington JHP. These are going to be used in a Ruger Security six and I just want to double check my load and see if the gun can handle the load? I cant remember whick load book I used or if I used the newer 2400 data and don twant to damage the gun or should I use these in on eof my Marlin Lever guns and try something different?

The load you listed looks OK to me .
Here is a Link (http://www.alliantpowder.com/reloaders/RecipeDetail.aspx?title=Pistols%20and%20Revolvers&gtypeid=1&weight=180&shellid=1015&bulletid=31) to Alliant's 357 mag 180 gr jjjjjjjjjjjjacketed loads .

They list 12.5 as max

Yea they use Fed primers .
But your powder charge is less

So have fun

Yea I know its hard to say the J word but I have about 1500 of them and trying to find a way to use them up. I also use them in my 35 remington. I was wondering if there is much difference between the older Herc 2400 and the newer 2400 and is the Ruger Security six a strong platform for this load while hunting

swampmaster- IIRC, which can be doubtful, the newer 2400 is hotter/faster than the old, so you should be okay. I would hedge that and shoot an e-mail to Alliant's Customer Service, or better yet Handloader magazine, just to be on the safe side. I generally get answers from Handloader in 1-3 days. Hope this helps.
