Gents,
At the moment I cast those with #2 lyman,my question is: could I cast with a softer alloy like 1-10 or something similar?

regards,
Oscar

For .32 S&W or .32 S&W Long? Absolutely.

I cast .32s for my 32S&L out of really soft alloy, even as soft as 1-40 tin lead, and they shoot fine.

I have some that are .315 I got on here through a deal and I think they were cast out of pure lino. They are hard! I cast the Lee TL .314 93gr. SWC out of pure clip on WWs. They shoot well.

While I realize this is about casting, I swage a HBWC out of pure lead, knurl it and lube it with a hard (Thompson) lube that I dissolve in fast drying solvent, (more or less a tumble lube method but without the sticky mess of liquid Alox). I load 1.7 gr. Bullseye but am changing to 700X since my Bullseye is gone and probably won't be replaced.

These bullets go exactly where my Benelli MP90 is pointed, unfortunately, usually not where the bullseye is.:-(

Years ago I had an S&W 52 and cast a couple thousand Lino bullets for it. They would not seal the bore using the standard 2.7 grains of Bullseye. I discovered this after loading several hundred so whenever I shot this gun with that ammo, I had a brass rod and hammer handy to knock the stuck bullet out with. This happened usually once a magazine but occasionally I could get more than 5 shots but seldom.

For 25 yards or less bullseye type competition, I don't think the bullet can be cast too soft.

Thanks for the tips!,
can I use the same alloy for .38 wc ?
I`m not decided what alloy to use 1-10 or 1-20,or is there a list floating around wich can tell me what BHN is okay for a certain speed in FPS?
Regards,
Oscar

I'm casting mine from range scrap, about halfway between soft lead and WW alloy.
