I would like to shoot my 32-40 at our indoor range this winter. The restriction is lead bullets under 1000 FPS. I'm using 170 gr Meisters now with great results at around 1500 FPS.
Anyone have loads for under 1000?

The Hodgdon web site has two loads for the 32-40 with Trail Boss powder with a 196 grn bullet. Both are under a 1000 fps.

Nothing under 1000 fps, only close.

TFS 19-7:
159-gr lead - 9.0 - SR4759 - 1100 fps

TFS 36-5:
165-gr lead - 4.5 - Bullseye - 1050 fps

Sharpe:
165-gr lead - 6.0 - Unique - .508" S/D - 1110 fps
165-gr lead - 9.0 - SR80 - .425" S/D - 1107 fps
(You can substitute SR4759 for SR80)
165-gr lead - 9.0 - 2400 - .508" S/D - 1290 fps

Just drop the Bullseye down to the velocity that you want. If you go too low you can stick a boolit in the barrel if its lead you can push them out pretty easy, been there and done that. How far are you shooting, I have made round ball boolits by pushing the right size ball through a Lee push through sizer and loading them in a 30 cal case with a very light load of Bullseye or Red Dot shot better at 25 yds that I can hold. Don't size the case just bell the mouth slightly, prime, and load powder the seat the ball-boolit by hand, thumb pressure I then smear a little Alox on the boolit let dry and shoot. Much fun, shoots great out to maybe 50 yards and cheap.
