Fellow forum members I am over joyed with the molds I have received from Accurate molds. Tom is one of the best that I have come across for being honest and looking out for the customer. His machine work is as good as that of molds I have paid much more for.His turn around time at this point is one week. Yes you heard right "ONE WEEK". I ordered a new design 44-40 bullet to shoot SASS matches with. I shoot the Lyman 427098 bullet which is the original design for that cartridge. The Lyman molds I had all worked great as they were designed to. I wanted a bullet with deeper lube grooves and square edges as opposed to the rounded Lyman design. My design would hold more lube as I only shoot the real BP not subs.It also would provide more driving band service. After a few back and forth e-mails we arrived at the final design. I use .429 bullets in my rifles and revolvers and they all slug at .427 The mold arrived with a note that stated that he had a broken furnace and was unable to do a trial run of the 20-1 alloy that I used. He stated that if the mold was not correct he would take care of it. I told him that if it was I would order another as I liked to cast with two molds and not one. This style does not over work your mold. Tom does his molds on a lathe cut out of aluminum, brass, or iron in three cavity. I chose the brass as I have never poured with one but wanted to try it. The mold dropped the bullets at .4285 which is one thousandth smaller than requested. I contacted Tom and he said he would make me another mold at no charge. I sent him the money for another mold and asked about sending the first mold back. He said no just keep it and he would make me two new molds. Well they arrived in that one week and are just perfect. The bullets are dead on the correct size and Tom is a man of his word. You can go all over and not find a better man to do business with. If you are shopping for that special mold or a stock one give him a mail and visit his web site. It is Accuratemolds.com and his mail is Tom@accuratemolds.com You will not be sorry. Oh I almost forgot, how about $119 for a custom 3 cavity mold to your door.

Thanks Tom

Likewise,,, I had been in contact with other Vendors here, and I will be in the future as well. But I had a need, and decided a brass mold for me was the way to go. Being new to casting I felt it would help me with temp/speed issues.
I haven't cast with yet, but I can tell by looking the quality is there. And Tom was extremely helpful in the design I wanted. Being different than what he had, He told me he did run a test casting with it to see how it spec'd out. I'm glad he did, as he strikes me not to send something out that is not matching up to the measurements of the throat and slug I gave him.
I also decided as long as I plan to shoot the .454 as much as the .45-70 I had him do one of each in the 2 cav. mold.
I just want to add, being this mold venture of his by his own comments is relativley new only being in it a few yrs. I can relate to that with the holsters as well. So I just wanted to freely give him my support here. It takes quality, time, money, along with support to make a venture in business succeed. I hope the best in his venture!

Ahhhh !!! So that's where those ranch dog like molds in his catalog sprung up from - you. I believe you and I are among the first to put in tumble lube type boolit orders with him. He should be just getting or have just gotten my payment in the mail for my order since I sent I put it in the mail Wednesday.

I'm doing an experimental hybrid design through him that I have been wanting to have a mold cut for to test the theory on for quite a while now but hadn't found a custom mold cutter (besides Lee) to do it for me until he came along:

http://accuratemolds.com/img/bullets/detail/bullet_detail.php?bullet=36-210C-D.png

Basically regular lube grooves lubed with a lubra-sizer for the part of the boolit inside the case and tumble lube grooves on the nose part that sticks out of the case and fills up the throat of the revolver. That way I can sort of have the best of both worlds as far as lube goes with only one extra step added to the loading process of dipping the noses of the finished loaded cartridges in the tumble lube to finish the lubing process. As an added bonus I won't get my seating die all goobered up either since the tumble lube coating of the nose will be done after not before the bullet is seated in the case. Plus the tumble lube grooves also serve as multiple crimp grooves for a variety of different seating depths. Most of the time I will be using the bottom tumble lube groove as the crimp groove but I have plenty of options for deeper seating depths if I so desire.

I'll post pictures as well when it gets here.

Mold casts right on with all diameter dimensions on all the driving bands for all three cavities all within a 0.359” - 0.360” range (I specified 0.359" diameter and his stated tolerances are -0.0000"/+0.0015") with no detectible out of round at all that I could find using a manual micro-meter that reads in 0.0005” increments.

:holysheep that is a nice tight cut mold. You ain’t going to get that out of a current production Lyman mold !!!

The only negative thing I can say about the mold is that I’m going to need to add a fender washer under the tension washer on the sprue plate hold down bolt since it wanted to ride up on me on a couple sprue cuts and leave a little protruding bump on the base of the boolit where the sprue was cut but that is no big deal.

And here are some pictures:

That boolit's gonna thump some!

That is kind of the idea, the boolit is designed for thumping things hard enough that I have minimal worries about them getting back up again and yes I know that means it is going to mean a little more thump on my end too, but I don't consider that a problem in 36-caliber cartridges.

Second half of post #4 above explains that without getting too long winded. I've also had a discussion thread up for a few months concerning the idea of designing a boolit like that if you want more info and some extended length pros. and cons. back and forth discussion:
