Spot paint a Lyman Alaskan.

Anyone know what the original finish is and how to touch it up?

Is it an original Alaskan or one of the reproductions that Leupold ( I think) made a few years ago? A buddy has an original and the tube and turret caps were blued steel. If I remember right, he touched up worn spots with cold blue, but, I don't remember what brand. Can't ask him right now as he is out west hunting. Looked pretty good when he was done.
