A friend called a couple days ago and asked if I wanted some Bullseye powder he bought for $20. A local fellow had passed away and after the kids took what they wanted there was some powder left and a buddy of his picked it all up for a song. All the containers were full except one 11 oz. can which was almost full and the powder smells just like my new Bullseye. One can still has the original metal factory seal! I'm pretty sure the can on the bottom right is the oldest as the Hercules address does not use a zip code. Pretty good deal I think ,$20. for a little better than 4 lbs of BE!
He said his friend had some 2400 also but he didn't know if I'd want that. I told him I certainly did so he will see if he can get that for me. Anyone know about when that bottom right can was manufactured?? I'm going to give Alliant a call and check with them also.

My Dad used to buy his Bullseye in those little cans in the 60s. They are terrible storage devices. My Dad's powder would evaporate between loading sessions!

Of course, that was about the same time as my brother and I discovered cannon fuse...

1960 ish. And you're correct the others are newer. The cans wiht the large bullseye came out mid sixties.

What Dale said.

I have some Red Dot in the Powder Cave of about that same vintage. I recall Dad buying powder for me in 1971 in those same type of cans, for refilling our 12 gauge dove and quail shells. I'll hang onto the cans after they're emptied for decorating the reloading garret.

Mid 60s was when we started using zip codes. I recall it being news when I was in the 3rd or 4th grade.

Congrats, I would imagine you will make your money back selling one "collector can", empty of course

Widow sales. I have a couple cans like the cube at lower left, and a cardboard tube like the right-hand one. Cans and tubes of 2400, also - all from widow sales while I worked in a gun shop. (It is illegal to re-sell powder, primers and ammo because of possible tampering or error.)

Good Heavens! I'm still using some powders in those little cans!

No problems at all.
