I have made an improvement to the check maker base, the way it was 41,44,and 45 cals. would not kick out of the base, they would just stack up, so I used a 1/2" spade type tile & glass bit to drill the hole where the checks drop. this way the hole is tapered. they will kick out for the most part, some times they will stack, but not so often. ed

I suggested to charly something like this earlier this summer and all of my recent FX's (454 and 458) have had a taper at the bottom. Guaranteed its nowhere near as big as this one..

Do you predrill the hole then use the spade or just punch the spade in?
Do the chips evacuate ok?
Cool idea....thanks for sharing Ed.

I drill a small pilot hole, then drill the 5/8" hole then the 1/2" hole with the spade bit, I do all my drilling on my lathe, and the chips are no problem. cheers ed
