I am considering changing to a Lee Production Pot:coffee: but I haven't decided which one yet . I am considering either the Lee Production IV or the Lee Pro 4-20 . Either will be a step up from sitting over my burner and cast iron pot with a dipper . I will be using 6 cavity molds for most of my casting ,if that is a factor.
Do you guys have any advice towards either unit either for or against??

Using 6 cavity molds will drain a pot pretty quick, so go for the 20 pound pot and get two of them, one to pour from and one to melt ingots in and refill the pour pot. That's what I do. except I two of the smaller Lee pots but will upgrade to the larger ones soon.

Id recomend you save a few more bucks and step up to a lyman or better even yet an rcbs pot.

The pot you want is not on the Waage website. The Waage is popular with BPCR shooters because of its consistent temperature.

Oh yes, but think how much lead you can put in that cast iron pot or a bigger one. And you are pouring from a ladle, now that is casting my friend. Getting back to the roots of shooting. If you don't have a ladle in your hand, Are you really casting?:castmine:

I used a Lyman Mould Master for over 35 years. When it died I didn't think I would be casting for another 35 years so I bought a Lee Pro 4-20 Dripomatic. I knew it wouldn't be as good as the Lyman but the price was right, I thought. I fiddled with the thing for 3 years. I tried every fix I read on the net to stop the drip but I was only able to slow it down.

Finally I came up with the solution. I bought a used Lyman Mag 20 and put the Dripomatic on the shelf. No more drip and the price was right this time. If you can't afford a new Lyman or RCBS try to find a used one.

A lot of casters like the Lee but it was a lot of aggravation for me. I don't cast for aggravation. I cast because I like to and I need lots of boolits.

I have a Lee Pro 4-20 (cheaper than a Lyman or RCBS). I also use the cast iron pot over the stove. At the starup, I fill the cast iron and my 4-20. Once I start casting, by midway of my 4-20, the cast iron pot is already melted. what I do is take a serving ladel and add more of the melt from the cast iron pot into my 4-20. this way, I don't have any downtime waiting for the ingots to melt in my 4-20. I've found that melting around 100 lbs in my castiron pot will give me more of a consistant batch for my .44's @ 240 gr - 100 lbs will yeild around 3000 boolits!!!!:coffee:

Although I cast mainly with a ladle Creeker turned me on to the Magma pots. They make a 40 pound and a 90 pound version.

Cod Father,
Get the Lee, if you have drip problems there are fixes that DO work. If you get it and have problems just PM me or do a search on Lee pots here on this site. Best value for the $$ just MHO. JETWRENCH
