Several weeks ago I posted about this six gun that I returned to Ruger and when I received it back there were severla scratches inside of the barrel. At that time some one posted that barrel steel was kind of soft and several hundread rounds would clean up the scratches. Well I want to thank whoever that was. After 200 hundread rounds of jacketed and several hundread rounds of cast those scratches are gone. It seems to like size 431 and it likes 7.5 grains of Universal over a suitable dose of 2400. I will substitute Unique next. Also, the elevation is right on at 25 yards with the rear sight bottomed out just as I prefer. Thanks to all who replied to my non existant problem. Here is a picture of a real neat six gun.

that is a great looking gun and glad you got it all worked out. I've been playing around with the idea of getting one of those myself

Me, too. That'd get me to buy!

Hey Art, I've got the same gun! Shot some today,... trying to run some jacketed through it to smooth up the bore before the diet turns to lead. I did shoot some of my cast boolits in her today and I think it's going to be more accurate than I am. Didn't notice any leading but I haven't cleaned it yet. I'm sizing mine to .430 but will shoot some unsized as well, mould drops .431. I haven't slugged the bore yet. Fun stuff, figuring out how to make them shoot good.

Best, Rick

I am also still experimenting. Just loaded up some 430 sized 240 Gr. XTPs'. I know kind of expensive but curious how they shoot. Next I will loadup 50 each of 430 and 431 and try them side by side. This is one fun six shooter.

I will also get a stainless if they ever come out that way. I jumped on this blue one a month or so ago thinking they would be kind of scarce but my store has had both lengths in the case since then and last week in Riverton Wyoming at Rocky Mountain Sports I spoted both lengths also.

I've shot a box of 100 XTP's, over 7.2grns of Unique and they were real good. It will be the j-bullet, I load if any. They are a couple of bucks cheaper than others I looked at. I have a RCBS 245gr. KT mould, throws 250gr. boolit out of WW. That's what I want to make shoot.
I built a cabin in Creede, Co. a few years ago, liked spending time there.
