Pat, This is rather crude but it works!:bigsmyl2: Someone else has probably already thought of this but it sure is better than trying to gather all those little disc up from everywhere[smilie=w:.

so how much of this mechanizm do you have to turn upside down to keep them from falling out of the bottle? lol

I may have to try that with mine. Maybe I'll just cut a bottle in two and use the top part only, sort of a funnel catcher thingy.

could make a long chute out of flashing, dumping into a container.

It is the top half of a water bottle. I can punch 100-125 before it starts to fill in around the die. I just unscrew the die, dump and start over again. I punched out about 500 this afternoon and did not have to play "hide and seek" with them.

Since it works I am going to build another one tomorrow that is not so crude:bigsmyl2:.

Good morning
I so enjoy simple solutions !

Just a question, how do you remove the disc from the top of the die so you can see how far to press the strip in for the next one? Or do you just guess. I like to optomize the strip by looking down in the die to move the strip just enough to punch the next disc so I just made a flat catcher that sits near the bottom of the die. At the top of the stroke when the disc is on top of the punch I just flick it off onto the flat catcher. I do like the idea of the bottle fitting the die, much more stable. Might use that idea cutting it to just below the top of the die and then making a shoot off the back to empty into a container. Thanks for the Idea.

Smokin7mm ~ this is how I index my strip for cutting discs.

That is clever, good thinking.

.30-30 Guy,

That's a nice looking Hollywood press you have there. I bought mine used in 1963 and I'm still using it.

That bottle attachment looks just like a Lee push-thru sizing set up. It amazes me how many good ideas the members of CB come up with!

I adjust my die so that when a disc is cut the punch only moves it about 1/8" above the cutting position. It takes about 20 discs before they start comming out of the top. After a few discs have accumilated on the top of the die I move the to my storage bottle. I have let 4 or 5 stack up on the top of the die without them falling over. When I have cut enough discs I readjut the die to eject all of the discs in the die.

Yep. You know, I've been lurking here back when it was Shooter.com days, but I don't believe I've seen the level of ingenuity and expertise that I'm seeing right now.

I think as Cast Boolits has grown, more and more ideas from fellow casters, reloaders and shooters have got the gray matter between our ears thinking and a lot of solutions are the result.

I keep telling other reloaders and serious shooters that there simply IS NO better site on the internet than this one, and that there is no other site even close to being like it.

Brother Love and 30/30 Guy are two prime examples of brains and ingenuity. Great job, guys!

Nice Malcolm!

Sorry for just finding this thread. I've been working daily in the shop refining, organizing, getting out orders and working on new calibers.

The process with my dies is simple...

- Insert your strip.

- Cut the disk.

- Grab the disk off the top and chuck it in your container, as you bring the ram down.

- Look downward into the die and slide your strip so the prior hole is just out of sight

- Repeat

This is fast and will cut disks right next to each other nicely.
