.088 % tin

I have some lead that must have some amount of tin in it.I have water quenched and the bhn does not change, so I think it only contains tin. It tests on a lee tester at .088 or 6.4 BHN. Could someone please tell me the % of the tin in this ?

If you are certain that tin and lead are the only elements in the alloy then a specific gravity test would be easier and more accurate.

Cap'n Morgan in post #5 explains it pretty well.

Once you have the specific gravity (SG) you can use that to find the % of tin by doing this:

2049.06/sg - 180.69= % tin

Hint 11.34= pure lead and 7.318= pure tin and 8.882= 50/50 lead/tin
