I ordered a .249 re sizer from Lee . Waited 5 months for it and when I got it resizes to .251 although it is stamped .249 . Is there away to reduce it down to .249 ? Is there any one that makes a .249 or may be a .250 re sizer die ? Marvin

Very difficult to make a hole smaller in diameter. What alloy are you using? The harder the alloy, the more the spring back. Pure Pb might come out at .249...

I've only gotten one custom sized die from Lee. It was for a Makarov. When I used it, the boolits came out about .001" larger than it was specified for. Fortunately, before I called them up & unloaded my ire, I pulled out a bore mic & measured the ID. It was good to the specified dimension within less than .0001" (that's 3 zeros there, not just two). That's pretty much spot on. What had happened, was the alloy I was casting with had a little spring back in it. I tried using the die with some pure lead slugs & they came out right on size.

I'm surprised to hear that it took 5-months to get a sizer from Lee. They quoted me 4-weeks on my custom size & delivered in just under 2-weeks.

If you want to try getting a size die from another source, there are a few members of this board that make custom size dies. Perhaps one of them will chime in.

I have tried to re size 5, 7, 10 , bhn lead and they all come out .251 . This is with a standard mic not digital or set of calipers .
If I were to try and enlarge a .243 would I be removing to much material and end up with a re sizer with no surface hardness left ? Marvin

Not dismissing the issue with the die, but the tried and true advice given here a lot is shoot 'em and see. Maybe you'll luck out.

Give Lee a call and they should make it right.

Yup, Lee will just send you out a new one once it gets to them, no questions asked. Put a note in the box you'd like them to verify it's .249.
