Got this levergun on Friday. Been wanting one in 30-40 with the long barrel and this one turned up. Does need correct sights. Anyone know of any for sale? It has a 4 digit serial number. thanks, moodyholler

That is NICE ! I have a standard one from 1903... rather heavy in the middle but sure are nice to carry about.
Over at the Marlin sight there is a feller with a bunch of old sights for sale...

Just checked over there and there were no Win. 1985 sights..

moodyholler,

First, nice looking flatside!

To find when it was built, (page 36)

Are you looking for barrel sights? Originals sometimes show up on the auction sites but there are also other sources. I don't have them at this time but when I dig tham up, I will post. There are also a couple of sources for the long range sight that attaches to the action

I have a Lyman or Redfield aperture sight on mine.

Buffalo Arms sells a really nice copy of a Lyman 21 receiver sight. I bought one for my new made Winchester and it is at the gun smith to have mounting holes drilled and tapped.
