Hi,
I don't know if you guys in the states can get this stuff but here in NZ I buy it at auto supply shops. There are no ballistic uses listed on the label which says its good for stopping squeaks on nearly everything but I've had good success in my 8mm. It comes in the form crayon and is a semi-translucent white slightly greasy wax.
Its all I use now.
