Finally have possession of a fully restored Win 92 in 44 Spl. This rifle will hold and feed 14 rounds flawlessly. Action & lever has been colour case hardened, bolt and hammer have been "fire blued" and the locking lugs & extractor finely polished. New barrel has had about 200rounds of cast lead only but it still has original stock

I tried it out at 50m and it shoots as good as it looks :-D :-D While 44 Spl was never a Winchester chambering, it should not detract from the shear pleasure of shooting this gem for many years!

BA,

Great looking rifle! The .44 Special on b.p. is ballistically very similar to the historic .44 Henry cartridge.

Neat! Thank you for sharing.

In the 30's the 44 special was a popular conversion for the 92's. I am a real fan of the 44 special and I have a Rossi and a 44 special 1872 open top that are real shooters. I think the 44 special should have been the caliber they made the Henry's and the 66 in. The 44 special is an almost exact duplicate of the 44 Henry centerfire that was made for the S/A trade in the 1890's. The Special case will hold just enough holy black to duplicate the 44 rimfire ballistics excactly.

Whoever did the case on the frame did a super job. Winchester use to charge 1/2 the price of the gun for case as it warped so many frames to do it. I am green with envy, that is a super 92 and in my favorite caliber. Are you folks still allowed to have repeating rifles or haven't they got around to them yet?
