Has anyone tried using the CH4D jacket reducing dies to make jackets from fired cases? Something like .38/.357 jackets from 9mm cases.

watching with interest here. One might have to have a custom punch for the fired cases.

I'm sure they are top notch and they're in stock too. But, I don't have a Walnut Hill press. The CH4D dies are only $63.00 and they work in a reloading press.

Hi Ickisrulz,

Just a FYI.

I had the same idea and ordered a few jacket reducer dies from CH4D a few weeks ago.

Waiting time is 8-12 months.....

I was thinking the possibility to make a die with different size of bushings..
Idea behind the thought is to shrink .222 and .223 cases for the jackets in .338.
I will propably use the Redding or RCBS bushings made for reloading dies..
I wonder if anybody already have tried this in reality..

Thier website says 8-12 weeks...I guess they're behind too.

I used a 280 Rem FL size die to size a fully annealed once fired 5.7x28 case.
the 5.7 case was originally 0.316
the 280 die sized it down to 0.305

there is a thread "FN 5.7x308" with lots more info on this.

This is a CH4D BSD(bullet sizing die?) in .413 diameter. I have no idea what it is supposed to do, but it could probably be used to size down .40 S&W or 10MM cases to be used as jackets for .44 Magnum/.44 Special/.45 Colt/ACP or .45-70. The jackets would then be swaged up to size with the appropriate weight cores. I don't load or shoot any of these calibers, so this die is just taking up space on my swaging bench. I don't even remember from where it came.

I make .357 bullets from .380 cases by annealing them, melting the lead into them to bond it to the jacket, and them swaging them in the bullet forming die of my CH4D 101set. The one on the left is 148 gns with the primer removed and lead in the primer pocket, and the one on the right is 152 gns, with the primer still in and a core seated, not melted. They shoot good.

""I have no idea what it is supposed to do""
it is a push through sizer for cast boolits. It would take down say a .415 dia boolit down to .413. Not a bad idea if its hard enugh . And buckshot custom makes these I think....Buck

May be able to use a Lee push through sizing die and turn the ram down to fit inside the case and round the bottom to the case contour.
