Before I make my own lube http://castboolits.gunloads.com/showthread.php?t=76911&highlight=crayons I've ordered a stick of SPG Lube. Will this work without heating in my Lyman 450 ? How does it rate compared to other commercial lubes in a centrefire up to 1,600 fps ?

It will work just fine without heating in your 450. It also works just fine up at least to 2000 fps in my 45-70. I think Mike Venturino uses it for all his cast bullet loads up through 1800 -1900 fps also.

We have a forum that sells the White Label lubes that has some excellent lubes that are a lot cheaper than SPG. His BAC requires no heat and you can darn near buy three of those for none SPG. If I may ask are you using black powder? If not then you have several better choices than the SPG lube. If shooting BP it is one of the top powders. We have another forum member that sells NASA lube for BP and it works quite well also. It is cheaper than SPG also.
