I wondered if anybody had any Swiss rifles. At least I've not seen any on here. Another forum that I'm on sometimes, has some guys that are addicted. I bought one of a friend that told me it was a K31, but when I got there it was a 1911 long rifle.

They are here.... Just use search function, I found some pretty good tips there. I've got 2 k-31's that working up loads for is on the "to do" list someday, but it's a long list and getting longer.
Really well built rifles.!!!

A 1911 would be an interesting toy too...

Hi roverboy, I shoot my 96/11 regularly, they are great rifles for cast.
I'm currently looking for a reasonably priced 1889.

(2) K31s in original dress, and another that was purchased as a barreled action with non-matching barrel to be fitted into a sporter stock.

My first K31 is in a beech stock, made around 1950 and has some wear in the throat. I shoot cast through it exclusively, and its a great cast bullet rifle. I shoot silhouettes at 385m and 500m when I get the chance. Recently I added a large receiver sight that allows me to shoot to at least 900 yards with cast bullets.

The K31s generally have excellent barrels and decent triggers. I've heard that the 1911s have longer throats, so should be easier to load cast.

My 1911 is in pretty good shape. It looks like its never been refurbished. Made in 1918. The bores pretty good and seems to shoot good, but I've not shot it much. I'll try and post a pic sometime.

Managed to get second place in our local Swiss rifle match last Saturday with one of
my K31s. Great rifles - one weak point in the design is low camming power on the
closing stroke. Needs full length resizing.

I get better results with handloads (j bullets) than the widely loved Swiss GP11
milsurp ammo.

If you haven't seen them, you haven't looked here hard enough! Lots of guys here have and shoot them. I'll toss mine in:

1 Vetterli 69/71
2 M78s
1 1889 Schmidt-Rubin
1 1896/11
1 1911
1 K31

The Vetterlis have CF conversions so I shoot those regular enough as well.

No big deal really, but I like it.

Me too!

so far I've used 39.5Gr. of IMR 4064 with 168Gr. A-MAX and
40Gr. IMR 4064 with 152Gr. M2 Ball.-- this load a bit weak.

We've done two group buys of molds designed for the K31: clones of the 165 and 180gr RCBS Silhouette molds. The K31's require a smaller nose on bore-riding bullets than is common on .308" bullets.

NOE did one of those (the 180gr), and will probably repeat it. If you bought a 1911 long rifle or carbine at a K31 price, you got a good deal.

I have a couple of K31s and have mostly shot Jacketed bullets in them but have tried some cast. My most accurate load to date is a `80 gr Sierra Matchking over 45 gr of 4831. This load prints 1 MOA from a benchrest with the issue iron sights. Even M2 ball bullets over 4064 prints 1.5 MOA all day long in both of my rifles. If I could see like I used to be able to do I probably could cut those groups down somewhat. The only military rifle I own that comes close is my Finnish Nagant Model 28 rebarreled and beded by Sako.

IMO, the K31, 1903 Springfield, 94 Swedes and M28 Finns are the most accurate
the milsurps. May be some more out there, like Krags that my experience is just
too limited to be sure.

Light loads under the 311413 have done very well in initial trials for my K31s, not a
lot of boolit experience with them so far.

I have one each of the K31 and 1911. Great rifles. I just added a St. Marie diopter sight to the K31 and wow, what a difference. Now I can actually group nicely without squinting all day long.

I have a bunch of the NOE cast boolits made up but haven't yet started loading them.
