forearm holding lug and countersink cutter

here is a couple of pics of the forearm holding lug made from a 1/2 in
bolt and the cutter for the forearm washer also made from a 1/2 in bolt
the teeth are hardened and not annealed. i cut a cross with a hack saw
and cut the teeth out with a 5 in grinder with a zip cut wheel. this keeps ur washer
perfectly centered over the lug.

............The tool you made looks to have worked exceedingly well. No little pulled up splinters. Did you put on some clearance around the perimeter? That's exactly how I attached the forend on my 577-450 Martini sporter. Only I didn't have to make my own bit :-) The mounting lug was already on the barrel too, but I did have to make up a transfer punch to locate the hole to be drilled in the forend.

I don't know what the threads were in the lug but I retapped them 1/4-28. After the hole was bored I made the washer and screw from some W-1.

Fire blued and installed. I even got fancy and clocked the screw slot :-)

Thought I would throw this out there for those needing under lugs. Wisner's has the dovetail lug that fits the bottom of the barrel on early model 70 Winchesters, with the screw for a good price. This is a standard 1/2" dovetail but the screw is a #10x 36 ( Winchester thread).
